SYNOPSIS: With snow and cool weather more than six months per year, Ukrainian boys need to find something to do to pass the time until it warms up outside.  Winter is no excuse to hibernate, though, and Vanya, Alexandr and Dima know that.  Skating and sliding down icy slopes is a perfect precursor to what's sure to be even more fun - the warmth and cozy comfort of the banya that awaits this trio.  The inviting glow of the sauna finds our Azov buddies indulging in snacks, having water fights and even a little play fighting!  Azov Films' Winter Play is your ticket to stave of boredom and the winter blahs.

EDITORIAL REVIEW: Yes indeed, Ukraine may be the place to be for naturists, but in the winter time nude sunbathing outside isn't recommended!  So, what to do when cold temperatures and snow occupies most of the country for almost half the year?  There's plenty to do, like skating, snowball fights, and sliding down hills on toboggans or whatever you can find.  Azov Films cameras follow Dimitriy, Vanya and his best friend Sasha to an indoor skating rink.  Even with frozen temperatures so often, these boys haven't quite mastered skating and suffer a few bruises here and there - but never lose their big bright smiles the entire time.  Later, on their way to the banya, some wrestling in the snow and sliding down some icy hills tops off the afternoon and gets the boys in the right mood to hit the steamy sauna.  At the sauna we play witness to the usual acts, including an impromptu wrestling match between Vanya and Sasha, and then the much bigger Dimitriy.  We've also tried something new with the interviews, I think you may like it.

We introduce Alexandr Kupriyanov, Vanya's best buddy, to you in Winter Play. They consider themselves brothers (call it, "brother from another mother") and share a close bond that shines throughout this film.  Vanya is his normal, hyper and uncontrollable self and Sasha is no different (yikes!).  Dimitriy Kravchenko is a little more mellow (he first made an appearance in 2008's Just Hangin') and gives quite the contrast - almost acting like the mature, protective big brother.  Fans of earlier Azov Films releases Anton and Matter of History will not be disappointed with this release!  Will this be a top seller like those?  Only you can tell us!
