Revolt of Job (Jób lázadása) - Hédi Temessy, Ferenc Zenthe - DVD |
moviebizz.com featuring rare coming of age films from around the world.
SYNOPSIS: Revolt of Job (Jób lázadása) is a magical
celebration of life. With simplicity, humor and compassion, it tells the joyful
and heartbreaking story of an elderly Jewish couple determined to keep their
heritage alive in the face of Nazi extermination.
Having lost all of their seven children, Job, a
prosperous farmer and his wife, Roza, adopt an 8-year-old gentile boy, Lacko.
Although it is illegal and against the beliefs of the orthodox community, it is
in this way that Job and Roza hope to pass on not only their possessions, but
their spiritual values as well. Their love, patience and understanding win
Lacko's devotion. With his new parents and their servant couple, he discovers a
world in which nature, religion, family and love are one.
EDITORIAL REVIEW:
A truly excellent film with a very unfortunate ending.
Fans of our collection of foreign films will certainly understand that sad
endings almost always accompany foreign films; but that is exactly why
Hollywood chooses not to make them (forget the the extensive bathing scene
in the first 7 minutes of this movie where Job picks out boys to adopt like any
one else chooses what pet buy).
