In my opinion this is one of the best coming of age movies ever made. It is a bitter-sweet tale of a Dutch boy whose sexual awakening coincides with the liberation of his country from Nazi occupation and features a fine young actor who convincingly captures both the joy and the anguish of first love. A definite “must have” for aficionados of the genre.

A charming film portraying the budding sexuality of a young dutch boy who falls for the charms of a gay Canadian soldier. Well scripted and well acted, a must see for lovers of this genre.

Probably one of the best man-boy love movies made. A major breakthrough for it's time. Holland, WW11, sheltered and displaced children follows the story of a young teenage boy and his affection for a Canadian soldier who befriends him, has a sexual encounter with him, and sadly moves on to fight a war, leaving the boy heart broken. What I find most interestingly enough is that it is based on a true story. The boy grows up to become a famous choreographer. This film, and "You Are Not Alone" are the two best films to deal with the subject of man/boy love.

A very hart warming story of finding ones first love, it just happens to be a American soldier. This film has some great moments, with very creative cinematography. Of the hundreds of films I own and thousands I have seen, this one is in my top ten. It will not Disappoint.
