Little Virgil & Orla Froesnapper - Jonus Rohr, Rudolph Straub - DVD |
moviebizz.com featuring rare coming of age films from around the world.
SYNOPSIS: An imaginary world is brought to the screen in this
children's fantasy about a little boy named Virgil and an older bully nicknamed
"Frogeater Orla".
EDITORIAL REVIEW:
Unlike other fairy tales from different times and climes, the slightly absurd
world of these children and a bevy of animals is not meant to teach ethics or
any particular lessons. The idea put across in the design, execution, and script
is to laugh at the children outwitting the bully, enjoy the mechanical animals,
and be amused at how the children can get away with ignoring some adult codes of
proper behavior. Even the actors have fun, imagine that. There are no
subtitles, but that makes this movie that much better because you can kind of
make up your own story as you go along! A cute little film that's easy to
follow, regardless of the absence of subtitles.
