1900 - Robert De Niro, Gerard Depardieu - DVD | moviebizz.com featuring
rare coming of age films from around the world.
SYNOPSIS: 1900 is an
epic film of massive scope, power and controversy. It is
both a vast history of 20th century Italy and an intimate portrait of
two families. It is also the story of the conflicts between
two boys, both born on January 1, 1900. A peasant and a
landowner pass through the upheavals of the modern world, and their personal
conflicts become an allegory of the political turmoil of Italy.
An astonishing international cast gives a magnificent ensemble
performance as the people whose lives affect, and are affected by, the rise of
Fascism and Socialism.
EDITORIAL REVIEW:
Get it while you can! This violently and sexually graphic
version of 1900 features pretty much all the scenes that were edited out
of the original release. They include (among many, many others): the head
butting and subsequent death of a kitten, two boys comparing their erections,
hand jobs given to Robert De Niro and Gerard Depardieu (and the
full intercourse scenes) and we can't forget the gutting of a live pig and the
murder of a boy after he was raped! The the US gave this version the dreaded
NC-17 rating (one below an X rating), and in other countries this movie wasn't
even submitted for a rating. What does all this mean to you and this website?
Perfect fit! This DVD has exceptional picture quality (the darker scenes aren't
as dark now) and remastered Dolby Digital sound.
