Eye Witness - Mark Lester, Lionel Jeffries - DVD | moviebizz.com
featuring rare coming of age films from around the world.
SYNOPSIS: Ziggy is an 11-year-old boy living on the island of
Malta with an overactive imagination and the habit of telling wild lies. But
when he sees the brutal assassination of a visiting African president by two
rogue policemen, nobody will believe his story. Can Ziggy convince anybody that
he is telling the truth before the psychotic cops are able to hunt down and
murder the only Eyewitness?
EDITORIAL REVIEW: Our
collection of
Mark Lester films is growing. Eventually we will carry pretty much every
Lester film he appeared in, so why not either start yours today or continue to
add to it by picking up this classic and obscure little gem. It seems as if
everyone is out to get young Ziggy in this bizarre flick from the UK.
The story revolves around Ziggy and his over active imagination, where
sometimes he has been accused of crying wolf one too many times. After the
assassination Ziggy witnesses, he is forced to flee for his life, leaving
his older sister, Pippa, and her new boyfriend Tom Jones (not
the Tom Jones), wondering whether he is dead or alive! Strange camera angles
and the Director of Photography's use of different lenses really capture the
intense moments in some scenes. Mark doesn't do his best work in
Eyewitness (actually, it's a little cheesy in
spots), but as always...if you're a fan (and there are many Lester fans
amongst our customers), then it's highly recommended. And the Costume Designer
should have been a little more aware of her surroundings because Lester appeared
in most of the movie with his zipper half down. Ahhh, low budget filmmaking!
