Oliver Twist (2005) - Barney Clark, Harry Eden - DVD | moviebizz.com
featuring rare coming of age films from around the world.
SYNOPSIS: Abandoned at an early age, Oliver twist is forced to
live in a workhouse lorded over by the awful Mr. Bumble, who cheats the boys of
their meager rations. Desperate yet determined, Oliver makes his escape to the
streets of London. Penniless and alone, he is lured into a world of crime by
the sinister Fagin -- the mastermind of a gang of pint-sized pickpockets.
Oliver's rescue by the kindly Mr. Brownlow is only the beginning of a series of
adventures that least him to the promise of a better life.
EDITORIAL REVIEW: Roman
Polanski directs the classic Charles Dickens' story of a young orphan
boy who gets involved with gang pf pickpockets in the 19th Century London.
This modern remake stars the adorable Barney Clark as young Oliver,
and the talented Academy Award®
winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley as Fagin (as good as Sir Ben
is, no one can match the performance of Sir Alec Guinness when he played
Fagin in the 1948 remake of
Oliver Twist).
Critics didn't seem to like this remake much, however many viewers
seemed to enjoy it, including this editor! The bonus materials include "Kidding
with Oliver Twist", a short film that features some in depth interviews with
the young stars as they discuss what it was like filming the movie. Barney even
reads from his personal diary and talks about his first days on set.
