SYNOPSIS: Kristian is a shy 16-year-old starting at a new school.  Like all boys his age he is uncertain of his new environment.  He is drawn to Henrik, an androgynous, charismatic and independent older student, a warm friendship slowly develops.  On the other side of the school's spectrum, and Kristian's radar is Patrick, a bully and troublemaker who stirs another kind of feeling in Kristian.

Kristian's world gets turned upside down when Henrik introduces Kristian to his boyfriend.  This leads Kristian to his first sexual encounter, but does not lead him to the man he really desires, Patrick.

EDITORIAL REVIEW:  Friends Forever is over 20 years old but still rings true today as a positive and potent film about growing up and coming out.  It is a classic piece from Denmark, a must for all DVD collectors.  A cross between You Are Not Alone, Whispering Moon and Private Lessons (yes, strange choice....but true), the storyline surrounding Friends Forever can be taken from pretty much any boarding school: a new boy in school, unsure of himself and his sexuality, becomes attracted to another boy who may or may not be gay.  It's also the storyline of many, many gay coming of age movies!  How many ways can you tell the same tale you ask?  Well the Dutch have found another way, and another point of view.  Remember, this is the same country that brought you that classic and unforgettable "other" Danish film about growing up gay in a boarding school.  Friends Forever is similar, but the characters are "less comfortable" with their feelings. 

Thomas Sigsgaard, who plays Patrick, has an unreal resemblance to Mark Rendall (Child Star, The Interrogation of Michael Crowe).

See if you can count how many times the "Wham!" posters appear in the background.  Oh, the 80's!
