Steal Me - Hunter Parrish, Danny Alexander - DVD | moviebizz.com
featuring rare coming of age films from around the world.
SYNOPSIS: Jake, a homeless 15-year-old, is lost somewhere between
boyhood and manhood, existing only on a strong instinct to survive. A
loner and a thief, he is proud of his sexual prowess but doesn't have the
maturity to cope with the consequences. Searching for the woman who has
left him (again), he drifts into a small Montana town and falls in with Tucker,
a local boy from a decent ranching family. At Tucker's insistence, his
family feeds Jake and eventually takes him into their homes and their lives.
The family Jake comes to inherit is not so much naive as good-hearted. But
is Jake up to the challenge of living a better life?
EDITORIAL REVIEW: Weeds
co-star Hunter Parish stars as 15-year-old Tucker, new friend and hopeful savior
of kleptomaniac Jake (played by Danny Alexander). Tucker stumbles upon
Jake breaking into his vehicle and stealing his radio (in Montana, kids as young
as 14 1/2 can be licensed to drive by the way---eek!). Jake, a thief since
birth, boasts of rarely getting caught...but this time, he's busted - not by the
cops, but by Tucker. A brief fist-fight and a foot chase ensues and thus
begins a strange friendship and the indie flick, Steal Me (how many friendships
as boys began with a fight?).
Tucker, is a little more
reserved and shy, and very sensitive. He opens his heart to Jake and takes
him home like a lost puppy. Jake is also shy and reserved, at first, but
he eventually begins to "open up"; even going so far as to flirt with
Tucker's
soon-to-be girlfriend (almost starting a "three-way" in the process) and
Grace (played by veteran TV actress Toby Poser), a 40-somthing "single" mom who
gladly takes Jake under her wing and into her bed (nothing worse and a woman in
her prime, and a teen in his, eh?). As Jake seems to grow in popularity,
Tucker starts to feel a little resentment toward the boy he tried to help.
But does Jake really need, or even want help? What exactly is Jake's plan?
There's not really much to say that won't give away the ending, but the title is
fitting.
Suddenly, this has become a
rare and hard-to-find DVD (it took us three months to get our stock in).
If it's out of stock, be patient!
