SYNOPSIS: Wealthy socialite Norah Benson was forced to take sole charge of her brother, Joel Delaney, in her early teens.  She is shocked when, in adulthood, he begins acting out of character and, when his former girlfriend is found decapitated, media speculation soon links the death to a series of unsolved killings.  Joel becomes the obvious suspect and, when Norah sets out to prove his innocence, she stumbles across a strong link to Santeria - an occult religion.  She begins to suspect that evil spirits are at play and attempts to exorcise the demons herself, only to become engulfed in a wave of sine-chilling terror.

EDITORIAL REVIEW:  The haunting, unrated, uncut, remastered edition of The Possession of Joel Delaney is finally on DVD!  This classic 70's horror flick stars Shirley MacLaine as Norah Benson, the divorced wife of a wealthy businessman, and Perry King as Joel Delaney, her slightly askew brother.  Norah begins to suspect that Joel is possessed by an evil spirit after she witnesses a series of bizarre behavioral events.  Joel's admission into a Loony Bin after his attempted murder of his landlord, only confirms her suspicions, and raises others.  Joel, the manipulative mastermind, manages to convince the doctors that he's not insane and temporarily gets out.  This is where the fun begins...

It's interesting to hear some of the feedback on this film.  The general public is divided; some hate it some love it.  Many (non-horror fans) would prefer to see it with an 'altered' ending - which in the opinion of this site's editor, would be like censoring Linda Blair's foul mouth in The Exorcist - it's sacrilege!  The final scene at the beach house isn't meant to offend, it's there to shock.
