Worth repeated watching

A Boy Alone - 12/7/2009

The protagonist, young Tom, is a naive, clear-headed youth who is placed in a school to prepare him to become a priest. He is innocent, eager to learn, and eager to please. Yet from the start, he is badgered and shamed by the authorities. For instance, he is shamed in front of his classmates for showering nude (even though he is in a private shower stall!).

He tries to make friends with his mates, but the homo-erotic tension is so thick, most of them are only concerned with "fiddling about."

Beset by so many obstacles on all sides, Tom struggles with his goals and the reason he has come to this school. He has so many questions that he needs answered before he can fully dedicate his life to the church.

Will Tom find his answers? Will he overcome the challenges and achieve his academic and spiritual goals?

I don't want to spoil anything, so watch this movie and find out. It's worth it. I give it 8 stars.
